The Perfect Finish – Column Casing with Style
The finishing touches to any construction project really do contribute to the overall appearance and feel of the build. In many cases it is these finishing touches that increase the client’s level of satisfaction in the project. When it comes to concealing structural columns and unsightly support structures, column casings have become the ultimate finishing touch. Column casings provide a stylish integrated finish, which provides the perfect solution for concealing internal and external structural columns.
There are many different types of materials that can be used for column casings. However, aluminum is steadily becoming the most popular material of choice.

Aluminum is incredible stuff! It is a unique metal with a positive image that has become the chosen solution, for interior designers and architects worldwide for disguising structural columns. In an attempt to either hide or make a structural column an architectural feature, this incredibly versatile material can be folded, formed and impressed to conceal support structures, including those made of concrete and steel.
Corrugated Aluminium for Interiors
What would come to mind if you were asked to describe typical uses for corrugated aluminium? Many would probably begin thinking about various external applications, including cladding for industrial buildings, retail sheds and other similar utilitarian uses.
However, as an alternative to large sized industrial style corrugations Gooding Aluminium have developed specialised tooling for producing a variety of miniaturised equivalents with both curved and flat topped patterns.

Lightweight and eye-catching the GA Anolight range of diminutive corrugated profiles adds a contemporary and elegant twist to all kinds of interior spaces. Flexible Anolight can be installed with its pattern running either horizontally or vertically.
The combination of Anolight’s fixing adaptability with its modern good looks makes it just right for the exhibition, leisure and retail sectors. Being such a lightweight product (2.74 kg/m2) makes it is so easy to handle, shape and fit on site.
Column Casings with Style!
Column casings/encasements are a widely used decorative feature in contemporary architecture. They are used for concealing all kinds of unsightly support structures, including those made from concrete and steel.
There are many different kinds of materials that are used for column casings; however aluminium is the most popular choice for such applications.
Aluminium’s inherent advantages are widely recognised by interior architects and designers. Among aluminium’s outstanding qualities are its cost effectiveness, corrosion resistance, durability, flexibility, lightness and sustainability through recycling.

Since Introducing column casings to the construction market, some twenty years ago, GA’s 5 Star Fabrication Service has been continually developing simple yet stylish ‘one fix’ packages to suit the most common applications.
Column casings are normally circular, but square and rectangular are additional options. Alternative configurations and jointing methods are also available. Internal fixing brackets and supports including, aluminium angle profile, are custom made for project specific installation.
Tread plate is great for many things!
Treadplate is a non-directional raised lozenge pattern that was primarily designed as a hardwearing flooring surface. However aluminium treadplate now finds use on vertical architectural applications as well. In fact wherever a robust, textured, and protective surface is required!
It’s easy to see why aluminium treadplate is used just about everywhere! Whoever came up with the idea of combining aluminium with a treadplate design is to be congratulated! This win win product partnership produces a list of impressive service life credentials. Among the many benefits are being, easy to clean, hygienic, corrosion resistant, lightweight and low maintenance.
Add in a ‘clean contemporary look’ to the above list and you will appreciate the sound rationale of the healthy eating Prêt A Manger sandwich chain into converting aluminium and aluminium treadplate in particular, into part of its iconic retail brand!

As vertical surfacing aluminium treadplate is widely used for interior applications as decorative and protective fascias on doors, counters and columns.
5 bar treadplate arranged in a non directional pattern is the most commonly stocked design in the UK. There are also 1 & 2 bar versions normally available in some parts of Europe, Asia and America.
All of these ‘bar’ patterns have been developed as an alternative to the original chequer plate design. This pattern consisted of elongated diamond shapes which unfortunately trapped dirt and water within its recesses. There are no such entrapments with the 1, 2 & 5 bar formats.
Our treadplate is available in a choice of two surface finishes, mill and anodised. The mill finish (when in architectural grade) is normally semi bright in appearance and has that urban industrial feel about it. The anodised finish produces a silky smooth matt effect that also hardens the material surface and reduces glare.
Here at Gooding Aluminium we are able to fabricate aluminium treadplates into the required shapes and sizes to ensure a perfect fit on site.
Within our stock range of rolled aluminium products is mill, anodised and satin brushed flat sheets, as well as pressed, textured and corrugated sheets.
We also keep aluminium profiles and extrusions in stock and these include, aluminium angle, aluminium channel, aluminium flat bar, tee, glazing channels, stair nosings, split battens, wallboard trims, and louvres.
