Project Solutions
Gooding Aluminium supplied custom-made aluminium balustrade panels for the refurbishment of the laboratory buildings.
The 3mm material thickness aluminium panels with 22mm diameter perforations were specially produced with plain borders (on all sides) for Queen Mary’s comprehensive experimental Antenna Measurement facilities.
The panels were finished in a Traffic Red powder coat. Fabricated aluminium angle profiles were also manufactured by Gooding Aluminium’s workshop to facilitate corner detailing.
Product: Ver-T-Fix panel system – Anodised Aluminium Panels
Finish: Smooth Matt
Project Background
Noodle Street restaurant, based in the popular Docklands area, London went through a refurbishment earlier this year which resulted in a brand new seating and bar area. Gooding Aluminium’s anodised Ver-T-Fix panel system was used to clad the bar/counter feature in this contemporary eating establishment. The restaurant has taken on a heady gastronomic challenge: to expand the principally Chinese-based menu, now speckled with speciality dishes from Thailand, Vietnam, Singapore, Japan and Malaysia.

The restaurant’s owner explained that he has found his way through this Asian maze by employing several chefs with strengths in each area.
Project Solutions
The relatively neutral appearance of the new bar counter marries entirely with the surrounding seating area. The secret fixed silky smooth minimalist style matt anodised aluminium panels have been used to offset some of the stronger colours and decorative features within the eatery.
Bar/Counter fascias are just one of the many aluminium products that Gooding Aluminium fabricates for the interiors sector.
Natural Anodised Aluminium provides an attractive matt metallic easy to maintain effect that will normally last for many years. The anodic film is extremely durable, corrosion resistant and light-fast. The anodising process interacts with the surface of the aluminium. For this reason it is important that a suitable aluminium alloy is selected, together with the surface finish being in good condition.
About Anodised Aluminium
Most of our aluminium is kept in anodising grade suitable for processing, and we also stock pre-anodised ‘GA Ano-Sil’ items, ready for immediate dispatch.

Aluminium awareness information
Key Facts:
Aluminium is great for incorporating into environmentally sensitive applications, such as this one.
Environmentally friendly aluminium is the only recyclable material that more than pays for it’s own re-cycling costs!
Re-cycling aluminium into new forms only requires 5% of the energy that originally produced it.
All manufactured aluminium is effectively a stored energy bank for future generations.
Aluminium is only 1/3rd the weight of steel.
Aluminium’s surface has a self generating and repairing oxide coating which makes it corrosion resistant and therefore less expensive to maintain than steel and other corrodible metals.

Hackney Marshes are famous for being the ‘grassroots’ in amateur football. The site holds the record for the largest number of pitches in one place, with forty matches played simultaneously on Sundays. However, by the start of the twenty-first century, the facilities provided for the hundreds of players who come with their supporters each week, were in urgent need of an overhaul. The London Borough of Hackney developed an ambitious vision for the site, recognising its community value and pivotal location adjacent to the Olympic Park.
The multi-million pound project is key part of the investment programme which is using the London 2012 Games as an opportunity to give residents world-class sports facilities alongside the new venues being built at the Olympic Park
Features of the new building include community and spectator facilities on the first floor, with changing rooms located at ground-floor level with provision for disabled players.
Project Solutions
Working with Stanton William’s Architects, Gooding Aluminium manufactured and supplied mill finish single and double folded perforated aluminium ceiling trays throughout the corridors of the South Marsh Community Hub building project. The perforated ceiling trays consist of plain borders to each side with slotted punched fixing holes (for simple on-site adjustment) along the short edges.
The aluminium trays are attached to specially produced aluminium angle with rivet nut fixings. The rivet nut fixings provide an excellent solution where components are jointed together to form a solid anchor, providing a clean finish and without damaging the material’s surface.
Being used to screen the M & E services the ceiling trays were installed throughout the corridors that connect the 27 changing rooms in the hub.
With its excellent corrosion resistance, mill aluminium (untreated) was selected as being the most suitable and cost-effective finish to this publically funded project.

Pimlico Academy is a Visual and Performing Arts College based in Westminster, London. Pimlico benefitted from the £152million BSF (Building Schools for the Future) Programme (under Westminster Council) where they secured funds for a new sports hall that includes a new gym open to the wider public, an all weather floodlight pitch and a new community library and education centre.
The project aim was to significantly improve the sporting and education facilities at the school. Gooding Aluminium clad the sports auditorium walls with their lightweight, perforated aluminium wall panels, the ‘GA Ano-Sil Anodised finished panels‘ provided fantastic acoustics for the hall which is being enjoyed by over 1500 pupils.

Material:Perforated Sheet GA P1632 & Plain Aluminium Sheet GA 1539
Finish: Powder Coated RAL 7045 & RAL 7047
Client: BP Norge
Specifier: SLP Engineering
Project Background
BP Valhall Accommodation/Hotel Platform Project
The Valhall platform is located in the North Sea off the coast of Norway and is one of the largest offshore brownfield projects ever attempted across the globe. The $2.4billion project was to build a new accommodation/production platform, preserving a proportion of the existing infrastructure which was pending eventual decommissioning and to stop reservoir subsidence in order to extend field life to 2049.
The new production and hotel platform – has a design life of 40 years. It is sized for production of about 120,000 barrels of oil and 143million cu ft of gas per day; water handling capability of 200,000bpd; a topsides weight of some 16,000 tonnes, and jacket weighing in at 7,500 tonnes.

Project Details
Working with renowned SLP Engineering, Gooding Aluminium were contracted to supply aluminium wall cladding Type WC2, combining perforated and plain aluminium sheets, for the atrium accommodation facilities module (Perforated Aluminium Sheet GA P1632 & Plain Aluminium Sheet GA 1539).
Perforated Aluminium Sheet - Wall Cladding - BP Valhall Accommodation
The living quarters house 180 people, they are powered from offshore for additional energy efficiency, but more importantly, the Gooding Aluminium lightweight, powder coated finish perforated sheets weigh 1.38 kg/m2, and the plain aluminium sheets are 5.5 kg/m2. The lightweight nature of the panels helped to bring the platform within the specified weight limit, contributing to the ongoing subsidence control programme.
In total, over 950 aluminium panels were supplied, manufactured and delivered in 4 stages. Each stage delivered ahead of schedule and once again celebrated Gooding Aluminium’s enviable 100% quality control, whereupon no panels were rejected.
Testimonial:
“I chose the Goodings system in preference to a variety of acoustic linings for the following reasons:- a. Weight/performance met our strict criteria.
b. Reasonably easy to be installed by abseilers i.e. the fixing method and durability provided perfect product.
c. Cost
d. Repairable paint finish
e. Contractor experience of GA.
f. Crisp precise detailing and the system allows acoustic and non acoustic panels in the same coherent system.”
